Artist demonstrator – Promethean

Being a tablet artist is a wonderful thing. You can take your whole studio with you wherever you go, painting a masterpiece on the bus, train, plane… in the staff room at work or on the sofa in front of the TV in the evening. But I do sometimes miss the thrill of the large canvas, painting in big sweeping movements, dancing around on your toes…

At BETT 2014 (The British Education Technology Tradeshow in London’s ExCel arena), I had the opportunity to work for three days on, what could be the world’s largest touchscreen, the 84″ ActivPanel Touch by Promethean. Plugged into my Microsoft Surface 2 Pro, I was able to use the huge screen to fingerpaint on the beautiful 4K display.

Over the three days I demoed the screen by painting their peacock image using both Microsoft’s FreshPaint app and Autodesk’s Sketchbook Pro, the final pieces and time-lapse videos can be found below.
